Donor Spotlight

Barrett Hospital Foundation was recently awarded $50,000 from the Montana Healthcare Foundation to support Barrett Hospital & HealthCare’s participation in the Rural Accountable Care Organization (RACO) pilot program. The Hospital will partner with 11 other similarly sized hospitals in Montana, Washington, Wyoming and Idaho – to share data on Medicare cost figures and quality measures of care. This three-year project is an effort to prepare for a new reimbursement model that the federal government will adopt in an effort to improve care and control rising healthcare costs. The program is a three-year pilot program that will start in the spring of 2016.

The funds from the Montana Healthcare Foundation will help offset the costs of hiring a project manager, tracking cost data and quality measures and other expenses associated with the position.

The Montana Healthcare Foundation was created in 2015 with the proceeds of the sale of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Montana. The Foundation uses a competitive grants process and awarded their first round of funding in October 2015.
