Marty Hensel, PA-C, is of Montana stock, born in Ennis and growing up in Harlowton. He spent twenty-one years working in ground-based EMS in Missoula, as an EMT and paramedic. Here he first met Dr. Greg Moore in the late 1980's when both were much younger than either may want to admit. Dr. Moore provided medical direction and guidance through much of Marty's first career. In 2006 Marty left EMS and, briefly, Montana, to pursue PA training at University of Washington, Seattle. There, in the midst of it all, Emma, his daughter, was born. Marty, Winifred, his wife, and Emma have made their home in the Bozeman area, where Winnie works as an RN in internal medicine, since returning from Washington state. Marty worked here, at Barrett, from 2008 to 2010 but left to pursue rural medicine/critical access experience in Ennis where, for twelve years, he worked primary care, ER and rural inpatient at Madison Valley. He returned to the Barrett ER in October of 2022. He continues to enjoy his girls, his dogs, backpacking, hiking and camping, is a mean open-fire cook and serves a respectable cocktail.
