Dr. Michael Zappas is a seasoned and compassionate healthcare professional with over 16 years of experience as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. He graduated from Tusculum College with a Bachelor degree in Pre-Medicine and Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2004. While there, he was a member of the Men’s Soccer Team playing as the goalkeeper. Dr. Zappas earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2007. He has dedicated his career to the field of Physical Therapy, where he has honed his skills in helping individuals restore and enhance their physical well-being. His greatest passion and experience is in Outpatient orthopedics and Sports rehabilitation. Dr. Zappas expertise encompasses a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, from rehabilitation exercises, personalized treatment plans, certifications in Kinesio taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and Dry Needling. These modalities offer a specialized method to reduce pain and movement impairments (without medication or injection). Driven by a deep-seated passion for empowering others to achieve their optimal physical health, Dr. Zappas believes in a Holistic approach to treatments. He has continuously sought opportunities to expand his knowledge and stay abreast of advancements in the field. His commitment to ongoing learning is a testament to his dedication to delivering the highest standard of care to his patients. In addition to his civilian healthcare career, Dr. Zappas proudly serves as an Officer in the US Army Reserves. As a therapist within the military, he brings his expertise to a different arena, contributing to the well-being of those who serve our country. His commitment to both civilian and military healthcare reflects a profound dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Beyond his professional roles, Dr. Zappas finds immense joy and fulfillment in his role as a husband and father. Married to his wife, Jennifer, their journey together forms a cornerstone of his life. Together for over 12 years, they navigate the intricate dance of balancing careers, family, and personal growth. Their family is blessed with two wonderful children. The love and support of his family are not only the pillars of his personal life but also serve as a source of inspiration that fuels his professional pursuits. Dr. Zappas joined Barrett Hospital & HealthCare in 2023.
