Tanya Curtis graduated from Portland State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Communication Science Disorders, completed her Master of Education/Speech-language Pathology at Western Oregon University in 1990. She has lived in Sheridan, MT since 2000. Tanya specializes in adult neurogenic rehabilitation with expertise in managing speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. She is certified to provide LSVT LOUD treatment, a program developed for people with Parkinson’s disease and related illnesses, as well as a certified VitalStim provider for swallowing treatment, and in the MBSimp Protocol for video swallow studies, used to identify physiologic impairments contributing to swallow disorders. She has extended experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist, designing low and high-tech communication systems for people who cannot speak, and serves on the Board of Directors for AAC Works, Org., a non-profit group preparing people who cannot speak, for employment. She has written an article on the topic of tele-practice for Perspectives, a periodic publication for the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Special Interest Group of the American Speech-language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Tanya is a member of the American Speech-language and Hearing Association (ASHA), and a past president of the Montana Speech and Hearing Association (MSHA). She enjoys time with family, church activities, is a certified ski instructor, and currently serves as president of the Dillon Jr. Fiddler’s group. Tanya joined Barrett Hospital & HealthCare in 2014.
