Becoming a Barrett Hospital Volunteer
Becoming a Barrett Hospital volunteer begins with getting to know you - what kinds of jobs you enjoy performing and what kind of unique skills and talents you have. We're sensitive to your free time as to how many hours you have to offer us, so we will work with you to find the right volunteer opportunity for you. To become a volunteer, you must be at least 16 years old.
Here are some of the volunteer opportunities available:
Information Desk
Offer information, support and assistance to all visiting our hospital. Services will include way-finding, determining patients’ rooms and/or assisting with resources.
Gift Shop
Volunteers help run the gift shop by waiting on customers, cashiering, and helping stock and display merchandise.
Dog Therapy
Certified dog/owner teams visit patients throughout the hospital to lift spirits and bring companionship and comfort to those who are away from home.
Patient / Family Advisory Council
The Patient/Family Advisory Council is composed of patients, family members, community members and hospital staff who volunteer to be advisors. The purpose is to strengthen collaboration between patients, family members and the healthcare team to deliver safe, comprehensive and compassionate health care. We seek individuals who represent a cross-section of our community and who have chosen Barrett Hospital & HealthCare for their healthcare needs.
