She regularly visited a public library, utilizing its services to gain command of the English language. In 1996, Anita earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). In 2001, she achieved a Master’s in Nurse Anesthesia through UTC’s highly competitive program, which accepted only one in ten applicants.
